Hello

My name is Wahkeena Sitka

Please call me Sitka

I am a vocalist, a writer, a freelance web & graphic design artist, a bodyworker / healing arts practitioner, mystic and devotee of ecstatic dance.

I have lived in Oregon since 2003 and currently reside in Portland.

A lifelong vocalist, I grew up singing hymns in the Church of the Brethren, but as a child was inspired by Motown, Pop & R&B. I knew as early as 6 years old that my lifelong passion would be singing. I have been deeply inspired & impacted by many vocalists in many genres: Bobby McFerrin, Porangui, Deya Dova, Ulali, Nina Simone, Azam Ali, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Ayla Nereo, Eivør, Fatoumata Diawara, Zap Mama, Imogen Heap, Lady Gaga, Sade, Ani DiFranco, Jon Anderson, Ella Fitzgerald... The list is endless.

I have spent my adult life cultivating energy work & healing arts practices. In 2001, I was initiated into Reiki - which catapulted me forwards into Ecstatic Chanting, Thai Massage, Craniosacral, Vocal Alchemy, Yin Yoga, Qigong, Ecstatic Dance, Cuddle Therapy, Breathwork, and Kambo. I am a 2009 graduate of the Ashland Institute of Massage.

In 2009, I began offering Vocal Alchemy workshops at festivals including: Symbiosis, Beloved, Enchanted Forest, Emrg'n'See, & Mystic Garden. My ecstatic singing workshops are centered in Non-Linguistic Polyrhythmic Chanting and are like an Ecstatic Dance practice for your Voice.

My essay - 'Transforming the Repression of the Divine Feminine' was published in Reality Sandwich's 2009 book - 'Toward 2012: Perspectives on the Next Age'.

I live the life of a simple artist / yogini / hermit here in my beloved temple in Portland, OR. I work from home and have developed a life that allows me to live fully in the moment and cultivate a relationship with body-centered awareness, spirit guidance and the joy of creativity.
